Railtech has been awarded a contract by RICON, a joint venture of RITES & IRCON in Mozambique to carry out Mechanized Track Rehabilitation of SENA LINE. The project envisages Mechanical Track Linking of Approx. 670 kms. of track using our own gantries. The scope of work includes welding of rails into L.W.R panels using a flash butt welding plant, Construction of Rail-Road Crossings, of Rail Sidings, Railway Station yards, Road & Rail Signages , Packing of ballast and jungle clearing. The Project was awarded in July 2006 and work at site started in Sept. 2006. |

Initially Single Rail Panels of 18m length were being fabricated in yard, loaded onto B.F.R. by gantries and unloaded and were directly placed on formation by Gantries and aligned as per site plan. The rails were then welded into L.W.R. of five rail panels of ninety mts. length by Flash butt Welding Plant at site. Then the ballast brought in by ballast trains, spread over track and packing done to make the track fit for movement of trains. Now on instructions of client, the methodology has been changed and now Four Rail Panels are being manufactured at yard, loaded onto B.F.R.s at yard by gantries ,taken to site by material train and then placed at site. Now the welding of rails is being done at yard only. So far we have achieved a progress rate of more than ONE Km of track linking per day subject to Rail lines/Sleepers/Track Fittings being made available by client. The project is being undertaken in an area full of thick forests and having unhospitable terrain and the work is in progress to full satisfaction of the client.
